Logar Valley. Recognisability, synonymous with sustainable tourism, pristine beauty.

This is how we easily describe the valley that means life to us locals. We associate it with childhood memories of our first climbs to the surrounding huts, early explorations of the peaks, and our youth. We constantly inspire those around us with the uniqueness of our piece of natural perfection. And from all of this, the song Dolina Logarska was born 30 years ago.

SLOVENIA, MY COUNTRY

It is imbued with our feelings, framing our most beautiful memories. The song, written by Marko Slapnik and Franci Podbrežnik, connects locals and friends of the valley. The song speaks to all visitors about what lies hidden in this beauty, what secrets embrace the local nature. And after all this thinking about Logar Valley, we are reminded of the exceptional 1985 promotional film, Slovenia, My Country.

Exceptional in image and music. Logar Valley, with a sign welcoming every visitor, plays one of the leading roles in the commercial. This commercial was a powerful reminder of what Slovenia means to us. The symbols of the linden leaf and the inscription SLOVENIA became a hit. In our humble opinion, this commercial gave us, as a nation, pride and courage. It made us even more eager to go to the mountains, write and sing songs about them with even greater enthusiasm…

OUTDOOR CONCERT IN THE LOGAR VALLEY 

This year, we want to dedicate a unique event to Slovenia – the Logar Valley – a concert marking the 30th anniversary of the song. The concert, held under the canopy of the Solčava mountains and surrounded by lush forests, will take place on Sunday, September 14, at 2 p.m. on Plesnik’s meadow, near the iconic elm tree.

Yes, a Slovenian song, a Slovenian pop song, will pay tribute to the homeland and the valley. We decided to give the concert a pop song flavour, as this genre tends to be overlooked in the hustle and bustle of events. The HAPPY BAND, with an expanded lineup of wind and brass players BRASS4U and the string quartet ALLEGRIA, will accompany guests Andrej ŠIFRER and vocalists Naja and Franci PODBREŽNIK. They will be joined by the boyish voices of the band REČIŠKI POBI. The concert will be enhanced by GODBA ZGORNJE SAVINJSKE DOLINE, which has prepared a special arrangement for the anniversary song. Franci and Naja have also recorded a video for the occasion. At the concert, they will premiere their version of Dolina Logarska. We will also add a reworked version of the song Moja dežela from the aforementioned commercial. Indeed, there will be plenty of uplifting music that will appeal to the valley and its visitors.

A ONE-TIME EVENT

The Logar Valley Landscape Park is an oasis of peace, which is why this concert is unique and unrepeatable. Nature conservation is one of the most important tasks of the area’s manager, so this event is not intended as promotion, but is organized as a one-time event.

SUSTAINABLE ARRIVAL AT THE EVENT

Let this Sunday be a family holiday, so we invite you to visit our destination before the concert. From 9:00 a.m. onwards, several activities will be organized in the alpine village of Solčava as part of the Bicka Sheep’s Wool Festival, which is part of our cultural heritage. You will be able to watch the shearing of sheep, our native Solčava-Jezersko breed. In the boutiques of handmade products, you can see the masterful handicrafts of local producers made from sheep’s wool and try your hand at a sheep’s wool felting workshop. As this is already the 14th Sheep Wool Festival, we will also show you the best moments from past events at the Rinka Center, and you will also be able to see an exhibition of the natural and cultural heritage of Solčava.

Bus transportation will be organized from Solčava to the concert venue in the Logarska Valley. The bus will depart from Solčava at 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m., and return from the Logarska Valley to Solčava at 4:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.

In addition, free shuttle transport will be organized in the park between 12:00 and 17:00. It is primarily intended for those who will park their vehicles outside the valley: at the church, the Podbreg parking lot – and then enter the park sustainably (on foot).

INVITATION TO PURCHASE TICKETS

This will be a unique event… We invite you to secure your ticket in advance. Tickets can be purchased through EVENTIM online or at 1,000 sales points throughout Slovenia.

The ticket price is €20, and on the day of the event, the price is €25. Entry to the valley with a pre-purchased concert ticket is free on the day of the concert. For other visitors, entry is free on the day of the concert from 12 noon onwards.

Disabled persons with a valid disability card are entitled to pay for their tickets. Companions of disabled persons pay for tickets according to the valid price list. Children under 12 years of age have free admission.

Admission fees to the Logar Valley are collected until 12 noon on the day of the concert. Anyone who shows a purchased ticket for the Dream Daughter of the Mountains concert at the entrance will have free admission.

BAD WEATHER IS NO OBSTACLE

In case of bad weather, the concert will be held in the sports hall in Luče. Any change of location will be announced 1 day before the event.
