The homestead at Matkov is situated at an altitude of 1165 m, in the small hidden valley of Matkovi kota. The estate stretches from the bottom of the valley to the peaks of the Matkovy kot, between the Savinja Alps and the Karavanke Mountains, where you can see the extraordinary range of colours of the vast forests from spring to autumn. For some time now, the Matkovy family has been breeding mostly animals that originated on Slovenian soil and belong to the indigenous Slovenian breeds. They have been a certified organic farm for more than a decade. In the immediate vicinity of the farm you will find plenty of pleasant walking spots. The area is perfect for all lovers of mountains, traditional farming and family life on a high mountain farm.
