our heritage and legacy
Anton Martin Slomšek, Bishop of Lavantine. In the first memorial book in Solčava, which was kept in the parish hall, among the many German entries, was the first Slovenian entry of A.M. Slomšek, when the spiritual visited Solčava in Klagenfurt on 7 August 1833. How beautifully his words among other entries resonate: “Mountains, valleys cover the world, friends among them meet again” (Valent Vider, Solčava).
Ložekar Estate
The “Ložekar Estate” offers a Chalet – superior house, a shepherd’s Miha house, and double rooms. It is situated at one of the most beautiful points along the Solčava panoramic road above the Logar valley, 3km from the Slovenian-Austrian border (Pavličevo sedlo). It stretches over 100ha between 800m above sea level and 1500m above sea level. Three generations have lived here, committed to a sustainable way of life. They are engaged in forestry, livestock breeding, healthy food production, production and sale of electricity from two of their own hydroelectric power stations and are happy to host guests who wish to enjoy the peace and privacy of our holiday home or to actively explore the richness of the surrounding natural and cultural heritage.
