of a shepherd looking for his sheep
One night, shepherd Krištof, a distant descendant of a child who was found on the doorstep of a church due to the flood caused by the dragon Lintver, lost five sheep in a severe storm.
The shepherd set off on a journey and asked all the good people for help, especially children who see things that adults can no longer, as well as young Lintver junior, a descendant of the dragon who once reigned in the lake where Matkov kot is today.
Long ago, old Lintver pecked away at the wall between Klemenča peč and Orlovec to such an extent that a gaping hole appeared in the wall that had been holding back the lake and water flooded the valley, while the larch with its three peaks killed the dragon. The shepherd made a solemn promise that everyone who helps him drive the lost sheep to the pen, back to Solčava, will receive a worthy reward.
Shepherd Krištof
Shepherd Krištof is a brave and caring boy who has inner-strength as well as the roguishness of the old masters of Solčava. As a descendant of a child who was killed by flooding long ago, Krištof has almost miraculous powers, as he can sense nature and see things that the eyes of people today no longer see.
Lintver the Dragon
Young Lintver junior is a strong and terrible dragon, like formidable nature itself as it wildly makes its way from summits to valleys. At the same time, it is also admirable in its awesome beauty. It is both a symbol of severe and incomprehensible natural justice.
Jezersko-Solčava sheep
The indigenous Jezersko-Solčava breed of sheep has long been famous and original, with its lovely teardrop shape around the eyes. The breed is distinguished by its excellent wool and perfect adaptation to steep pastures and rocks. They are an important part of Slovenia’s natural and cultural heritage.
What is the story about?
The story of shepherd Krištof and the young dragon Lintver junior is one of a relationship between man and mysterious and unmanageable, yet wonderful, nature. A story of mutual respect and a sense of strength that sends out a message that if we respect nature and its laws and courageously persevere on our path despite the difficulties, we will live a full, satisfied and successful life.
