In the enchanting setting of Žička Kartuzija, the destination Logarska Dolina – Solčavsko received recognition as part of the Slovenia’s Hidden Gems 2025 campaign, which took place on Radio Si from May to September. The goal of the project is to showcase authentic, lesser-known, yet exceptionally immersive tourist areas of Slovenia, where visitors can truly feel connected to nature, tradition, and people.
Among the seven selected experiences, this year the program “Solčavsko – Our Home in the Embrace of the Alps” was highlighted for its authenticity, warmth, and complete harmony with nature, impressing the project’s explorers. The experience takes visitors to the very heart of the Alpine world, where in a single day they can discover the rich cultural, natural, and craft heritage of Solčavsko.
“Solčavsko – Our Home in the Embrace of the Alps” Program
As part of the Slovenia’s Hidden Gems 2025 project, a full-day program was prepared in Solčavsko, allowing visitors to experience the full richness of nature, culture, and craft traditions of the region. The program is designed to combine authentic local experiences with active time spent in the embrace of the Alpine world.
The day begins at Matk Tourist Farm, where visitors participate in the morning goat milking and enjoy a homemade breakfast made from local ingredients. This part of the program offers interaction with animals, an authentic sense of rural life, and the peace that can only be found in a natural setting.
Next is a visit to the Rinka Center, where the exhibition “Solčavsko – Our Home in the Embrace of the Alps” presents the history, geological features, and life of the people in Solčavsko through multivision and modern displays. Visitors can, through interactive presentations, feel what it means to live in harmony with nature and preserve local heritage.
After the exhibition, participants set off on electric bikes along the Solčavsko Panorama Road, one of the most beautiful scenic routes in Slovenia. The route passes highland farms and meadows, offering stunning views of the majestic Alpine peaks surrounding Logarska Valley.
The afternoon is dedicated to a creative wool felting workshop led by the Bicka Association. Participants try their hand at traditional wool processing techniques and create their own product from natural materials – a memento of a peaceful and creative day in nature.
The full program lasts approximately nine hours and combines all the elements that modern visitors value: authenticity, sustainability, natural beauty, and contact with people who proudly preserve the heritage of Solčavsko.
