DURATION: 1. 1. 2021 – 15. 12. 2022
PROJECT VALUE: €150,663.56
CO-FINANCING VALUE: EUR 100.131,19
OBJECTIVE OF THE OPERATION: The objective of the operation is to acquire, through investments and activities, additional recreational areas that will improve the conditions for an active lifestyle of the inhabitants and visitors of the area, and at the same time to raise awareness of the positive importance of recreation, sports and regular exercise in nature. By investing in appropriate sports and exercise areas, we aim to create opportunities for quality leisure, socialising, networking and raising awareness that exercise, sport and recreation are essential for the health of all generations.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVESTMENT/PROJECT: The operation “Establishment of sports and recreation infrastructure and a tourism programme for an active and quality tomorrow” or in short “Sleep, Breathe and Enjoy” is a partnership operation between the Rinka Centre, the Solčavský Institute for Tourism and Sustainable Development, the Municipality of Luče, Dolina Aventur d. o. o. and the Luče Pensioners’ Association. The main purpose of the operation is to provide new recreational areas for the inhabitants of the narrower and wider LAS area of the Upper Savinja and Šaleška Valleys and at the same time for visitors from abroad and Slovenia. The operation will include the construction of an outdoor exercise park and an indoor fitness centre in the gallery of the new Luče Sports Hall. The Igla-Rjavčeva jama hiking trail will also be restored, serving both the local population for daily walks and tourists for recreational leisure activities in the area. Various activities will be carried out in the course of the operation on the landscaped areas, ranging from guided exercises to study tours, which will make the local population aware of their purpose. A tourism programme will also be prepared for tourists, bringing together different stakeholders from the local environment.
The operation itself will focus not only on tourism but also on wood and food self-sufficiency. Only local materials will be used for the footpath, especially wood, which is not scarce in the area and whose quality ensures the sustainability of the restored infrastructure. The tourist programme will also include local suppliers, who will offer local culinary products to visitors as a complementary offer, while at the same time presenting the culinary specialities of the area.
The operation will create the conditions for new jobs, especially among young people, through various activities, as it will lead to two people obtaining a fitness trainer/instructor licence, with potential employment in indoor fitness. At the same time, the impacts and results of the operation will contribute to environmental, economic and social benefits for the area. The development of the walking trail will relieve the pressure on other tourist sites, especially during holidays and the high season, which will have a positive impact on the whole area. The development of a new tourist programme and additional offer through the new recreational areas will also have economic effects, as tourists will stay longer in the area or go to more remote areas of the municipality of Luče, which will mainly benefit local providers, who will thus be able to sell their products more easily. The social aspect of the operation is particularly important, as the creation of the two recreational areas will encourage intergenerational cooperation or socialising and the transfer of knowledge from the young to the elderly. This will not forget vulnerable groups, from the preparation of guided exercises for the elderly, to the accessibility of the two sites, and suitable facilities for people with disabilities.
