The municipality of Solčava has once again joined European Mobility Week (EMW) this year. Although we have been carrying out some activities to promote sustainable mobility throughout the year, the main part of the programme will take place between 16 and 22 September 2026.
Between 16 and 22 September 2026, every day between 10.00 and 15.00 (except on Saturday, 19 September), motor vehicle traffic will be restricted in the area from the Mountaineers’ Hut (Dom planincev) to the car park below the Rinka Waterfall.
Visitors will be able to drive as far as the Mountaineers’ Hut (Dom planincev), but from there we invite them to continue on foot or by bike.
The highlight of the event will be Car-Free Day, which will take place on Saturday 19 September 2026, when the entire Logar Valley will be closed to day visitors between 8.00 and 17.00.
Exceptions apply to local residents, employees, guests with a valid booking, people with disabilities and emergency vehicles.
The aim of the initiative is to reduce traffic congestion in one of Slovenia’s most visited Alpine regions and to offer visitors the opportunity to experience the Logar Valley in a different way – free from traffic noise, in closer contact with nature and using sustainable modes of transport.
We therefore invite visitors to make their way into the valley on foot, by bike or by bus. The Logar Valley is accessible via regular bus services from Celje and Velenje. We recommend that visitors check the timetables before setting off, as some services only run as far as the entrance to the Logar Valley.

We also encourage the use of bicycles. Bicycles and e-bikes can be hired before entering the Logar Valley. Bicycle hire is also available from providers within the Logar Valley.
On Car-Free Day, 19 September, a free e-bike hire service will be organised at the valley’s entrance point, through which we aim to make it even easier for visitors to enjoy a sustainable visit to the valley.
To make it easier to get around the valley, free shuttle services will also be organised on Saturday, 19 September, on the Solčava–Slap Rinka–Solčava route, enabling visitors to access the most popular starting points and attractions without having to use a private car. On this day, parking will be available just before the Logar Valley, at the event site in Solčava.
During the event, wardens and information officers will be present in the Logar Valley Landscape Park to guide visitors, provide information on traffic arrangements and highlight options for sustainable travel to and around the valley. Information will also be available on European Mobility Week activities, public transport, organised transport services and bike-hire options.
As part of European Mobility Week, other activities will also take place for people of all ages, including walks, workshops for young people and the elderly, activities for schools and nurseries, the promotion of public transport, and the encouragement of cycling and other sustainable forms of mobility.
You are invited to visit the Logar Valley between 16 and 22 September on foot, by bike or by bus, and to join us in contributing to a friendlier, quieter and more sustainable future for one of Slovenia’s most beautiful natural environments.
